The Liberal Arts Programme at Christ (Deemed to be) University - housed at its Bannerghatta Road (BGR) Campus - revolves around the concept of sustainability. An interdisciplinary exploration in this program allows for an understanding of a plethora of global issues through a very comprehensive lens that delves deeper into currently relevant themes.
The Liberal Arts degree allows the students to tailor their own specialisation according to their own unique interests by choosing from amongst seven ‘Interdisciplinary Thematic Tracks’ as listed below:
“We are striving towards creating a space where generating new knowledge and exchanging the same, thereby promoting an understanding of the human experience, is one of our primary visions.”
Welcome to the Liberal Arts programme, a distinctive centre of liberal studies, scholarship, and civic engagement nestled in the vibrant heart of Bangalore City! Our program stands out for its commitment to expanding your self-awareness and global perspective, fostering community involvement, and delivering innovative learning experiences through our dedicated faculty and staff.
In the Liberal Arts Programme, we understand the importance of choosing the right path and institution for your studies. That’s why we offer our students the invaluable opportunity to customise their degrees. You can select from thematic track-based majors, minors, and skill-based courses spanning the social sciences, business studies, humanities, and interdisciplinary themes. I am confident that, no matter the path you select, you will gain skills to help you have a successful career, navigate our rapidly changing world, and steer it towards a sustainable future. That is because a Liberal Arts degree goes far beyond learning facts and figures - you will learn to contribute to society’s social, cultural and economic development, fostering a lifelong learning experience that nurtures commitment to civil society through an engaged and educated citizenry.
As a student of the Liberal Arts programme, you will not only cultivate essential life skills such as creative and critical thinking, communication, and collaboration but also gain hands-on experience through internships, research, and industry collaborations. We meticulously design our immersive programs, study abroad trips, and Capstone projects to provide you with practical learning opportunities. You will also have the chance to join our student organisations, Liberati and Echo, dedicated to honing your leadership and execution skills. Scholars, practitioners, and experts in their fields lead our classes. They are passionate about student learning and are genuinely interested in your success. They foster an environment where you can ask big questions without fear, bring different and multiple perspectives without hesitation, and easily collaborate on solutions to real-world challenges. As a result, you will develop a deep understanding of the human condition, cultivate empathy, and gain valuable insights into the diverse perspectives and cultures that shape our global society. But at the same time, you will also be prepared to adapt to the present world, where computational thinking, digitisation, and AI are transforming the economy, the job market, and how humans interact.
At the same time, the Liberal Arts programme is an excellent opportunity to create lifelong friendships, network with potential employers and alums, and immerse yourself in various cultural experiences within our inclusive and pluralistic space.
